Obviously, every business is different, but even most tiny businesses cost $2000+ to get up and running. One of the things I love about getting started selling on Etsy is that it’s inexpensive! There is a super low barrier to entry.
In fact, I believe that for less than $100, you can get access to everything you need and then some to start your successful business!
Should I break it down for you? I thought you’d never ask. 🙂

$39 = 3 Months of Canva Pro
The Pro version of Canva costs $12.99 per month. While you can create digital products to sell without it, I find it a necessary cost.
With Canva Pro, you can quickly resize your products. This can save a lot of time and effort. With the click of a button and some small adjustments, you can turn Instagram templates into Facebook templates or transform your planner printable into a new size.
Canva Pro also allows you to download your designs in more file formats, which is important when you list and sell your products.
You’ll be able to use Canva to create the logo and banner for your shop as well.
$8 = 40 Listings on Etsy
It’s free to create a new shop on Etsy, but there is a small fee for every product that you list.
Each product costs 20 cents, so if you budget $8, you’ll be able to get 40 products listed in your new shop.
If you’re brand new to selling on Etsy, you can eliminate this expense because by using my referral link, you’ll get your first 40 listings free!
$0 = Supplies, Packaging, Shipping, Etc
You’re creating a digital product business, remember? So no need to worry about a lot of the costs that come with selling physical products. Woo!
$51 = 3 Months of Digitally Purposed
Ok, so truthfully, Canva Pro and some money to list your products are all you really need. But there’s a lot more to learn if you want to come out of the gate swinging.
Part of working smarter, not harder is learning from those who have experience. Sometimes you can invest a small amount of money that will save you countless hours. Worth it, right?
In case you didn’t know, this is what I do! I have a monthly membership where I share my hard-earned knowledge about how to create a profitable digital product business on Etsy. In the last six months, I’ve made over 120,000 sales on Etsy.
In Digitally Purposed, you’ll learn everything you need to know:
- How to do simple research to find the best products to create
- Successful shop setup
- How to create products, even if you have no design experience
- Creating listings that get views and sales
- Automating traffic to your Etsy shop
The Grand Total: $98
(Just $90 if you use my referral link to get your first 40 listings free.)
Pretty impressive, right? Less than $100 for the software, shop listings, and education that you need to start a profitable digital products business. This is why I love selling digital products on Etsy! And this is for 3 months, so if you’re budgeting monthly, you’re looking at $30 a month to start your business.
I don’t know of any other online business where this is possible.
But will I make sales?
When it comes to running your own business, there are no guarantees.
BUT…
There certainly are ways to increase your odds of success.
- Start by listing trending or seasonal products. This is the fastest way to gain traction with your Etsy shop. Learning how to do a bit of research will help you identify the best opportunities: products that have a high search volume and low competition (aka: lots of people are searching for it but not many shops are selling it).
- Learn from an expert. There are people out there selling courses on how to make money online who have very little experience themselves. Find a teacher or mentor with solid experience. If you can have direct access to this person through live Q&A calls or a Facebook group, that’s the best!
- Take action then optimize later. Don’t try to do everything perfectly from the beginning. This will keep you from ever doing anything. Focus on one step at a time. Get your shop up and running with some listings. When you learn more about SEO or how to create amazing mockups later on, you can improve your listings.
- Be consistent. Success on Etsy takes consistent effort. You can’t just list 5 products and sit back to wait for the sales to roll in. Decide that you’re going to be successful and keep taking action until you make it happen.
For less than $100, you can have everything you need to start a successful Etsy digital product business!
With Canva Pro, Digitally Purposed, and some money to list your products, you’ll be up and running in no time.
