Create a Facebook Business Page

Before marketing any business on Facebook, create a dedicated business page on the platform. You never want to use your personal Facebook account to market your business, as this can confuse your audience, annoy your family and friends, and limit access to specific tools, like additional analytics tools.

Your Facebook business page is a landing page for your audience to learn more about your products and services.

When building your Facebook business page, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Build the Facebook page with a mobile-first mindset. Double-check that your page loads and reads easily on a smartphone because most of your audience will be checking Facebook from their phones.
  • Play around with different layouts and arrange your photos and videos differently to create more visual interest.
  • Highlight beautiful photos and mockups of your Etsy products. However, don’t go overboard. Feature simple pictures with close-ups of your products or short video demos.

Link Your Etsy Shop to Your Facebook Page

After creating a Facebook business page, link your Etsy shop to your Facebook page by following these steps:

  1. Sign into Facebook on your business Facebook profile.
  2. Go to Etsy.com.
  3. Click on ‘Shop Manager’ in the upper right-hand corner.
  4. Click on ‘Settings’ in the left-hand menu
  5. Click ‘Info and Appearances’
  6. Scroll down to the ‘Links” section.
  7. Click on ‘Connect with Facebook.’
  8. Click on your created Facebook business page to connect it to your Etsy shop.

Create a Shop Now Button

The easier you make it for customers to find your Etsy shop and shop, the more sales you have the chance to make.

One of the best ways to make shopping easy is by adding a ‘Shop Now’ button on your Facebook business page:

  1. Go to the cover image area on your Facebook business page and locate the blue box stating ‘Add a Button.’
  2. After clicking on this button, multiple options will appear. Locate and click on ‘Make a purchase or donation,’ then select ‘Shop now.’
  3. Add your Etsy shop link to the URL copy-paste field.

Whenever someone clicks on the ‘Shop now’ page on your Facebook page, it will immediately redirect them to your Etsy shop, helping you get more eyes on your products.

Create Engaging Content

A Facebook page with no content or infrequent, unengaging content won’t draw many new customers to your shop.

Start by considering your target audience.

What kind of content would they like to see? How can you tie in your products to this content? Are you going to reshare other content, like memes or articles, or create new videos and photos?

Take out a piece of paper and pen and brainstorm as many content ideas as possible. Research other Etsy creators in your niche and different niches to see what they share on their page.

Are they getting good engagement? What is and isn’t working for them?

Remember, numbers aren’t everything. It’s more important to see sales conversion and engagement on your posts than large numbers of views.

Etsy recommends operating with a rule of thirds when sharing content on social media. Devote one-third to business-related content, one-third to product and shop promotions, and one-third to engaging content your audience will love.

For example, if you sell products in the party niche, share content on DIY projects or tips for hosting an unforgettable party. For business-related content, you could share news within the party industry, such as hot new trends for kids’ birthday parties. Your last third of posts would highlight your products, shop announcements, and promotions.

Share Exciting Product News

While it’s important not to make your entire Facebook page feel like an advertisement, you should take time to share exciting new product launches, sales, and promotions.

I also recommend creating posts about relevant topics, such as holidays and seasons, and any products you have that relate to this time of year. Evergreen products can be shared intermittently between these time-sensitive periods.

Join Facebook Groups

Facebook groups are an excellent way to establish your Facebook business page and Etsy shop. Join relevant Facebook business groups, such as those local to your area, in your niche, or with fellow Etsy shop owners.

Just a few benefits of joining Facebook groups:

  • Request feedback from other business owners
  • Connect with other Etsy shop owners
  • Share links to your social media
  • Answer questions about your products or niche
  • Stay up to date with changes on Etsy
  • Look for promo days in Facebook groups. Every group will have its own rules, but it’s common for many Facebook groups to have a day for self-promotion where you can promote new or old content, your social media profiles, products, freebies, and opt-ins.

Post Consistently

Like any social media platform, consistency is critical to pleasing the algorithm and staying in front of mind with your audience.

The more regularly you post, the better your chance is of building a relationship with your audience and becoming a familiar face and name in their feed. Remember, trust is critical for making sales, increasing brand awareness, and building a larger audience.
